Book Information

I'll cry if I want to.

Oh boy, another birthday …

Karen could be excused for crying on her birthday, especially as it’s the first one since her husband got on a plane to the States and never came back. Then there’s the fact that her workmates were practically bribed to attend her birthday meal. But when a restaurant double booking leads to her sharing a table with single dad Elliot and his daughter, things start looking up.

As Karen gets to know Elliot she experiences feelings she thought she’d never have again. But is it enough? Or will the thing that destroyed Karen’s previous relationship also ruin things with Elliot?

My Review

4☆ A Heart Warming, Tender, Romance.

First off I want to say how much I love the cover for this book.

It's My Birthday is a heart warming story of finding love, families, relationships and the struggle to start a family.

Karen met Elliot and his daughter Sophie on a chance encounter.
The restaurant where they are both celebrating their 40th birthdays got the booking wrong and Elliott ended up joining Karen's party.
As Karen and Elliot get to know each other there is definitely a spark there.

Karen is just finalising her divorce and Elliot is a single parent to Sophie, both haven't had an easy past.
Karen has always wanted to have children. She now 40 and feels even more compelled to have children as time ticks by, and decides to explore adoption.

As Karen and Elliot's relationship grows stronger, so does Karen's urge to adopt.
Elliot is already a single parent and is well aware of the struggles. But will he support Karen as the two become closer, or will it all become to much for him?

I really loved watching Karen and Elliot's relationship blossom. They are really good together and I was willing them to stay together.
What was also nice to see was how well Sophie accepts Karen into their lives. It's just been her Dad and her for so long, it was Touching to see their connection grow.

It's My Birthday is a beautifully warm and compelling read about relationships, finding love, yearning to become a mother, self discovery and romance.
The Characters are well thought out, slightly flawed, but likeable.
The pace flows along with ease as you watch Karen and Elliot deal with the trails and tribulations of a budding new relationship.

If you are looking for a heart warming romance, that is tender and emotional, but also has a dash of humour and light hearted moments then It's My Birthday is the perfect read! So whatever the occasion pick up a copy of this fab book, snuggle down with a slice of cake and a cuppa and enjoy!
