The Writers' Retreat
By Indu Balachandran

So today on my Blog I have The Writers' Retreat to review.

I would like to Thank Booksetc and Indu Balachandran for giving me the opportunity to read this fun book.

Blurb

Indu Balachandran masters the art of humour in this multicultural, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy set between India and Greece.

Amby Balan has had enough of the corporate life in a multinational bank in India. On a reckless whim, she quits her job and becomes a Tweet Writer for Krish Kumaar, the hunky new Kollywood superstar. Despite her glamorous new job (and the opportunity to ogle her gorgeous boss all day long) Amby still longs to fulfil her dream of becoming a writer.

She comes across an exciting ad for a Writers’ Workshop in Greece and cannot pack her bags soon enough. On the way to Crete and Santorini, she meets Mini Cherian, a bestselling children's book author who fantasises about writing erotic novels; and Bobby Varma, who left behind the advertising world to become a travel writer.

Together, they embark on an unforgettable adventure to discover their true selves and find love in impossibly romantic Greek islands.

My Review

4☆ Entertaining, journey of discovery!

Amby quits her job just after a month working in a very respected bank. She's a Maths Whizz but the job just sucked the fun out of her Maths Love.

So on a drunken night out with her friends she decides that she needs a change... and that comes in the form of becoming a Shadow Tweet Writer for the Famous KayKay Kollywood Superstar.

As much as she loves her job writing for KayKay something just seems to be missing.
Her passion is creative writing and she has always wanted to write professionally.

So when she sees an Ad for a writers retreat in Greece she is instantly curious.
So she makes the big decision to sign up.
I mean what has she got to lose!

For me this is when the story gets going, as we follow

Amby on her journey of discovery, the friendships she forms, the funny moments, the Romance.

Amby meets Mini, a children's book Author desperate to spice up her writing by exploring Erotic writing. A huge jump from her 'norm'.
She also meets Bobby, who is very established in the Advertising world, but longs to write about Travel

The three of them soon become really good friends and so begins their journey together.

I loved Amby and learning all about her life and family, she breaks away from what is expected of her by her family and throws herself into discovering her writing.
It was such a joy to see her grow.

The Writers Retreat is a warm, feel good Entertaining read. That has a self discovery feel. The characters are all so different yet their love for writing shines through.
With a humorous writing style and a sprinkle of Romance, this is the Perfect Summer read.
