Her personal life has always played second fiddle to her career. Rachel buries herself in work because she is unhappy, empty and reeling after a life-changing beachside breakup with her boyfriend from graduate school. Scallop left his family’s farm the morning after High School graduation to travel, surf, climb mountains and explore Rain Forests. Scallop became a Navy Seal after 9/11, serving four tours before returning to North Sea. When he isn’t at work at the farm, he's surfing, fishing, hunting or serving as a volunteer fireman. He lives a minimalist lifestyle in a tiny, uninsulated cottage on Peconic Bay with his four-year-old son from a previous relationship, and relies on his extended family to help care for his son and provide a routine of stability Scallop needed to keep PTSD at bay.
Financial pressures leave Scallop’s family seriously considering selling the family farm, leaving Scallop’s future uncertain. Despite being polar opposites, Rachel and Scallop fall madly in love over the course of a summer. Rachel’s friends and family tell her it’s impossible, even laughable, for her to be involved with Scallop, telling her it’s an “mid-thirties crisis”.Those in Scallop’s inner circle are eager to see him put his best foot forward, but it isn’t clear he knows how anymore at age forty. When an old acquaintance of Scallop’s dredges up unsavory details about his past, Rachel sees clearly how the dark secret could cost her everything.
“Conscience Point” is a story about following your heart at all costs, how chance encounters can change our lives forever, and the sacrificial choices we make for love.
He was born in New York City and raised in New Canaan, Connecticut. He attended Muhlenberg College where he was both a Theatre Arts Major and a member of the football team. Upon graduation, he began a career as a professional actor.
During his acting years, he held some interesting side-jobs to pay the rent: bartender, a Toy Soldier at FAO Schwartz in both NYC and Beverly Hills, a Census-Taker, and Superman at children’s birthday parties. During this time he also received a federal grant to write a play about his educational experiences growing up with dyslexia, which was staged and performed around the country.
His literary influences include Pat Conroy, Jim Harrison, Pete Hamill, John Patrick Shanley and Bruce Springsteen. A college football aficionado with no particular favorite team, and a supporter of the New York Giants, his many obsessions also include U.S. and world politics, geography (especially odd geographical facts) and maps, talking to total strangers, and hearing people’s stories
