4☆ A Fun and Engaging Children's Picture Book!
We Toot is a great little book that teaches children, especially girls that it's ok to pass wind, in a fun and entertaining way that children of all ages will relate too.
A few Friends were having a girly sleepover and the next morning whilst playing one of the little girls, makes a parping sound, then all the other girls start to speculate where the noise and smell is coming from.
Until one of the girls giggles and owns up to passing wind. In turn it leads to the girls all coming together in solidarity.
This is a strange concept for me to review, as growing up passing wind was not seen as the right behaviour for girls.
If you happened to pass wind at school god help you, as if it was noisy or smelly then you would be target for bullying.
I only wish this book would of been around in the 80s when I was a child, as then maybe it would of changed Children's attitude to something that is so natural.
It's not till now I'm an adult I see that passing wind can be because of so many reasons, illness, disability, medication, food, nerves etc... but it's a very Taboo subject that is just not spoke about enough!
Maybe it's about time it was, and maybe We Toot is exactly the book to help educate!
What I liked about this book is that it sends a strong message saying it's ok to fart or toot everyone does it, there's nothing to be ashamed of. All of our bodies make noises and passing wind is just one of those many things it does along with sneezing, hiccups and burping.
It teaches children to love their bodies no matter what. Which Promotes self love and confidence. Something I really lacked at school.
The illustrations were brilliant and really bought the Children's imagination alive.
This book needs to be In schools from 3-10yrs, yes it's an easy read for the older children but the importance of the message, within the story is the same no matter what age!
