My Review
4☆ A Charming and Fun Read!
I really enjoyed Leelo To The Zoo, it's a fun children's adventure.
Leelo live in the Kingdom of Angelus and misses his friends on Earth.
So his parents decide to let him visit Marco on Earth for two days.
Leelo is super excited, but has to wait for a Rainbow to appear so he can visit Earth.
The day finally arrives and he gets to see his best friend Marco again and his friend Mimo the Squirrel
Marco decides he wants to take Leelo to visit the local Zoo. When they arrive Leelo is upset to see the animals in cages, but he can speak to the Animals and they tell him all about how they came to the Zoo and how being at the Zoo keeps them safe.
Whilst at the zoo some mean children are throwing food into the enclosure, feeding the baby monkey despite signs saying not too.... which of course makes her very sick!
The importance of this story is about Animal Welfare, how to treat Animals and that if a sign says not to feed them, then don't as it can be extremely dangerous! And the importance of Zoos.
I really loved Leelo's and Marco's friendship, it was so lovely to see. They might be from different worlds but they are both kind and help others.
I think this book is aimed at readers 6+ however some of the language used is more advanced and the younger reader may not understand some of the wording.
For example when Leelo comes to earth to visit his friend he has a rain coat on...he is dry despite falling into water.... The wording used to describe this is......
' Without Penetrating the Fabric' ...I'm not sure younger readers would know what the word Penetrating means. However given the description of the wording it will be easily explained.
Overall Leelo To The Zoo is a beautifully Illustrated Children's Picture Book that is all about friendship, animal welfare, knowing right from wrong. It's a charming, fun read that children will enjoy reading.
